內容(Detail) National University of Tainan (NUTN) hosted its Self-Directed Learning Showcase on December 13, featuring 55 student teams. Through poster displays, oral presentations, and videos, students shared their learning journeys and achievements, demonstrating exceptional creativity and practical skills.

Showcasing Creativity and Practical Skills in Self-Directed Learning

Self-directed learning, a cornerstone of modern education, emphasizes student initiative and self-management. This event highlighted how students set learning goals, identified suitable resources, managed their time, and engaged in reflective practices. These processes foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and innovation, equipping students to tackle future challenges. Unlike traditional teacher-led classrooms, self-directed learning encourages students to explore their interests independently and apply their knowledge in practice.

"Solar Chaser" Solar Panel Innovation by the "EC God" Team
One notable project was the "Solar Chaser," an automatic sun-tracking solar panel developed by the "EC God" team, a collaboration between the Department of Electrical Engineering and the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering. This innovation addresses the inefficiency of fixed solar panels by optimizing sunlight utilization.
Drama students also made a strong impression with their design of a "Drama Therapy for Dementia" workshop. This initiative used theatrical methods to raise awareness about dementia, earning widespread acclaim for its social impact.
Empowering Students with AI and Technological Tools
NUTN’s Academic Affairs Dean, Dr. Ying Ouyang, emphasized the universitys commitment to integrating AI and technological tools to enhance student communication and expression skills. With diverse platforms supporting self-directed learning, the university has long been dedicated to fostering a supportive environment for students to explore and showcase their abilities, paving the way for innovative learning models.

A Journey of Growth and Exploration

NUTN President Dr. Hui-Ping Chen highlighted self-directed learning as a transformative journey of growth and self-discovery. Students cultivate independent thinking, problem-solving, and self-reflection, essential skills for navigating future challenges. Dr. Chen expressed hope that society will continue to support the development of self-directed learning, celebrating the diverse achievements and potential of the next generation.
