This competition includes two major projects, Speech and Composition, which are divided into Mandarin, Minnan, Hakka and Aboriginal. Apart from the traditional writing group, the composition group is the first computer typing group in Minnan and Hakka areas, in order to improve the contestants writing ability in local language. Students from colleges and universities are from all different places of Taiwan, in addition to those who used to focus on teacher-training universities, students from top universities such as National Taiwan University, National Cheng Kung University, National Tsing Hua University and National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, as well as military school students from National Defense University and Air Force Academy, signed up for the competition, gathering together at Fu Cheng Campus in NUTN on November 14th to show the beauty of languages and characters of various ethnic groups.

Li Yu-Juan, Director of the Department of Lifelong Education of the Ministry of Education, said that in order to enhance the language literacy and interest of teachers, students and the public, the Ministry of Education held a national language competition every year. However, in the past, only the educational universities and the college of education were set up. This year, colleges and universities have been set up independently, hoping to encourage all junior college students to learn their own languages (including their mother tongue), respect and appreciate different cultures, and thus promote ethnic integration. Thanks to NUTN for hosting this competition, which was successfully held after a years careful planning and overcoming the epidemic situation. Hope that through the competition activities, more young people will be aroused to cherish their own national language and characters, so that the rich cultures of Taiwan can be continuously inherited and developed.

President Huang Zong-Xian of NUTN said that National University of Tainan has a fine tradition of teacher training for a hundred years and has been deeply cultivating Chinese education for a long time, and has been subsidized by the Ministry of Education to set up a local Chinese education resource center. With the efforts of teachers and students in the whole school, and with the help of thoroughly competition mode and strict epidemic prevention measures, this competition provided the best stage for junior college students to give full play to the rich cultivation of language and characters, as well as to observe and exchange with each other.0
