Towards the goal of introducing freshman students into university life and understanding the international learning environment, the Office of International Affairs at National Tainan University in cooperation with the Ministry of Education’s advanced education plan held an “Online Freshman English Camp” on September 9th and 10th. In total, 45 freshman students attended the English camp. Due to the current epidemic situation, it was held online. In order to provide the students with a personal experience, a special 360-degree panoramic virtual map was built for the National Tainan University school campus and the Fucheng district attractions. To help students quickly integrate into university life and increase their interest and ability in the English language, foreign students and professionals gave English lectures introducing freshman students to the school campus and to Tainan city life.
The Tainan University Office of International Affairs Dean Jia-Sheng Hu said that the Ministry of Education is actively promoting higher education students to develop bilingual abilities, especially because English has become an indispensable ability for the new generation. The National University of Tainan features an English department to cultivate English professionals, and also has sister relationships with 125 international schools. The language center hosts a variety of language courses and activities. In order to strengthen the students international competitiveness, the have also created multi-learning channels to create a top quality bilingual education environment.
